Holberton Tulsa to host LGBTQ+ Tech Panel, June 30

TULSA, Oklahoma | June 27, 2022 – Holberton Tulsa, a software engineering school, will host an upcoming panel with LGBTQ+ tech leaders from Tulsa to close out Pride Month.
“Queer Coding: Conversations with LGBTQ+ People in Tech” will be hosted on Thur., June 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Holberton campus, 15 N. Cheyenne Ave in Tulsa. The event is in partnership with Techquity, a Holberton Tulsa student-led initiative focused on expanding access to technical education and fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment within the tech industry.
“With the support of Techquity, we are thrilled to highlight LGBTQ+ creators who offer an important perspective in the technology field,” said Libby Ediger, CEO of Holberton Tulsa. “The event brings LGBTQ+ people together to have an honest discussion about their experiences and pathways to create an equitable technology ecosystem in Tulsa.”
The panel will be moderated by Kristen Loyd (she/her), a Holberton Tulsa education facilitator and software engineer, and will include the following participants:
Jamar Torres (he/him)- Northeastern University + Lambda alum with experience as a front end developer for Whytespyder (a Walmart e-commerce expert), as well as the United Nations.
Grace Fallon (she/her)- recent Holberton Tulsa graduate in the Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality program and leader of Techquity.
Elle McCray (she/her) – founder of Onyx, a FemTech company focused on a modern approach to menstruation pain .
Louie Napoleone (he/him)- director of partner operations for inTulsa, which connects innovative businesses with diverse talent. inTulsa also partners with Holberton Tulsa to assist graduates with finding Tulsa technology jobs.

Techquity is an organization of students and technologists that seek to expand access to technical education and foster a more inclusive and equitable environment within the tech industry. Since its establishment in 2020 as a student-led initiative on the Holberton School, Tulsa campus, Techquity has advocated for COVID-19 protections and accommodations for parents and the immuno-comprimised, expanded resources for low-income students, and transparency in conflict resolution procedures.
